Love everything girlie and social, like us? Then you’ll love the sites featured on by our friend Melissa Pont on her blog, Social Ice Cream, which features everything social media, with a bent towards the fun, cute, and pretty! Today, she shares her thoughts on beauty and her 5 must-have products.

Ok, so first. Tell us a little bit about yourself!
Well, my name’s Melissa Pont. I am a proud Austinite, social marketing enthusiast/manager, and have been in a long-term relationship with makeup for over 12 years. I also have a blog dedicated to social media called Social Ice Cream where I write about new sites & trends (including Trainca.se!)
Throughout my teen years, I was always the one doing my friends’ makeup, and experimenting with beauty products like my bathroom was a science lab. My dream job growing up was to be a makeup artist to the stars; but alas, that dream has yet to come true. As I’ve grown, I still love experimenting with new products, but I have some that will probably never change.
How would you describe your every day look? What do you change when it’s time to go out?
I would say during the day, I go pretty natural. I can’t live without my concealer and my eyebrows filled in. I also usually wear blush, and mascara. Going out is a different story! I go all out—from contouring, to full-on smokey eye looks. I keep most colors in tune with my hazel eyes, so I’m big on purples, greens, taupes and browns.
Awesome. So it sounds like you’re willing to experiment a bit. Have you ever had a beauty look go awry?
Oh absolutely. I love watching makeup tutorials and then testing them on myself. I tried out one that was based on Kat Von D (of LA Ink)…and…let’s just say it looked a lot better on her than it did on me. There was a lot of black and dark glittery green…but it just did not blend very well. She must have a professional makeup artist, because that look is hard to achieve!
We’re obsessed with those tutorials too. Always looking for that perfect Megan Fox eye. Other than youtube, where do you look for beauty inspiration?
Pinterest is huge for me. I found a Selena Gomez haircut I liked on Pinterest, took it in to the salon this past weekend, and got a pretty dramatic cut. But it turned out great! Of course, I also draw inspiration from my best friends. Nothing like sharing beauty tips with my besties!
Finally, what are your beauty must-haves?

Benefit Erase Paste
This is literally a MUST-HAVE. I MUST HAVE it on my face every single day of the year. I suffer from a common syndrome called super dark under-eye circles. I will not leave the house without putting on my Benefit Erase Paste. It is by far the best concealer I have ever tried/used. It covers everything completely, and matches my skin exactly. Oh, and one will last you at least six months to a year. The only downside is that it may melt or sweat off, so I would suggest patting it with some powdered foundation or translucent powder to set.
Covergirl Eye Enhancers in Brown Smolder
Another must-have that I won’t leave the house without. I actually don’t use this on my eyes, but my eyebrows. Do you like the look of perfectly filled-in eyebrows but don’t want to fork over $30 for Benefit Brow-Zing? Grab yourself a $3 Covergirl brown eyeshadow. All you need is this and an eyeliner brush and you’re good to go! Filled-in eyebrows is definitely my beauty secret to looking put together.
Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash
One thing I won’t skimp on is my face wash. I have been using this for many years, and it is perfect for my skin, which is sometimes oily, and sometimes dry in spots. It works on most normal to combination skin types. It’s a white creamy wash that lathers up like crazy when you add water to it; so you only need a little pearl-size drop! It makes your face feel squeaky clean, and smells lovely. The only issue is it can make your face SO clean, that you’ll most likely need to follow up with moisturizer to keep your skin soft.
M-A-C Eyeshadow in…every color ever
Okay, so this isn’t technically a must-have, but it is my go-to if I want color on my eyes. Eyeshadow is something I always love to experiment with, but after all my experimenting, I have found M-A-C to be the highest quality by far. Best pigment. Best texture. Best color options.
Essie Nail Polish
Manicures are never complete without Essie nail polish. In fact, I just gave myself a manicure yesterday with Tart Deco: a summer-y, pale coral. I just think this nail polish is superior to all others. It looks profesh, and the colors just POP. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great polish.
So what are some of YOUR beauty must-haves?
